S7 is a shock-resisting tool steel known for its high impact toughness and good hardness. It combines outstanding resistance to shock loading with moderate wear resistance and excellent dimensional stability during heat treatment.
S7 is a shock-resisting tool steel that delivers exceptional impact toughness combined with good hardness in the range of 54–56 HRC. As an air-hardening steel, it provides excellent dimensional stability during heat treatment and good through-hardening characteristics, making it a reliable choice for demanding applications involving repetitive shock loading.
This versatile grade is suitable for both hot and cold work applications. S7 offers good machinability in the annealed condition and moderate wear resistance, making it the preferred choice for chisels, punches, shear blades, gripper dies, forming tools, and plastic injection molds where impact toughness is the primary requirement.
